Tourism Associations of the Municipality of Kakanj and Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Strengthen Institutional Cooperation

The Tourism Association of the Municipality of Kakanj and the Tourism Association of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton have taken another important step towards strengthening institutional cooperation through a working meeting held at the premises of the Tourism Association of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.

The meeting brought together Edin Bjelopoljak, Director of the Tourism Association of the Municipality of Kakanj, and Anđelko Maslać, Acting Director of the Tourism Association of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, who discussed opportunities for enhancing cooperation and exchanging professional experience in the field of tourism development.

During the meeting, the Tourism Association of the Municipality of Kakanj presented its strategic priorities, implemented activities, and key development projects focused on destination promotion, tourism product development, digital promotion, and strengthening local tourism capacities.

Particular emphasis was placed on identifying areas of mutual interest, including operational cooperation, the exchange of best practices between local and cantonal tourism associations, the implementation of the tourist accommodation tax, financing models at different administrative levels, and joint participation in the forthcoming gathering of tourism associations to be hosted by the Municipality of Kakanj.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of both institutions to establishing long-term cooperation based on knowledge exchange, coordinated promotional activities, and the development of innovative tourism initiatives that will enhance the visibility and competitiveness of tourism destinations across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As a gesture of appreciation for the hospitality and the beginning of a stronger partnership, representatives of the Tourism Association of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton were presented with a replica of the Zgošća Stećak, one of the most distinguished monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s medieval cultural heritage and a recognizable symbol of the Municipality of Kakanj.

The Tourism Association of the Municipality of Kakanj remains committed to building strategic partnerships with tourism associations and institutions throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the objective of promoting sustainable tourism development, exchanging expertise, and creating high-quality tourism products that contribute to the country’s overall tourism competitiveness.
